stool (furniture)

Stool with a concave, ovoid seat and a heavy base with cutouts at the sides, carved all in one piece. It was painted all over first in light tan, then in black, with the solid parts of the design being scratched through to show the light painted underneath. The middle part of the seat has a 'Greek Key' design, while the ends of the seat are painted a solid black. The base is painted, both inside and outside, in a pattern consisting of crosses and dots. The underside of the seat is decorated in a zig-zag pattern.
