Rectangular sample of multicoloured embroidery on cream silk fabric depicting a basket containing flowers at centre, a bird surrounded by flowering branches and foliage above and below. Double border all around framed to either side by a thin black line. The inner border consists of a continuous trefoil pattern outlined in couched metal-wrapped thread with blue infilling. The outer border consists of abstract floral motifs, with butterflies in each corner.

Donated by Mr C. H. Sparks and acquired by his aunt, Miss Hilda Sparks, at the start of the 20th century.
