legging (clothing: outerwear)

Legging ('tsongta') made of cane and orchid stalk. It is made with fine twill of thin cane strips. On the bottom half, near the ankle, the cane strips have been left uncoloured. On the top half, the cane strips have been coloured red and are interwoven with yellow orchid stalk strips, in zigzag stripes, lines and dots. There is a slit up one side of the legging which runs to just below the top, and the edges of the slit are reinforced with cane strips.

Such leggings are restricted to men who have financed feasts of merit.
