arrow (hunting, fishing & trapping)

Knife-bladed arrow with a shaft of arrow reed (Gynerium sagittatum, called 'waiwu') holding an iron knife-blade, which is bound in with grass fibre that has been blackened with gum. It is decorated with tufts of small feathers held by white cotton thread with black banding. The shaft is undecorated. The flight is of two opposed radial feathers bound at both ends, and at selected places in between, by blackened cotton thread, decorated with tufts of small feathers. The end is notched and bound.
