Basketry pedestal dish. The bowl is formed of regular-sized bundles of plant fibre coiled and bound to the adjacent layer with vegetal strips at narrow intervals. A pattern is formed on the inner and outer sides by using dyed strips in certain areas. The topmost band of fibres has been closely wrapped diagonally, forming the rim, which also includes dyed strips at regular intervals. The bowl is set on a stand, also of basketry, but the strips binding the coils together here overlap, forming an external surface texture which differs from that of the bowl. The basket is further decorated on the underside with two strings of black, red and white beads attached around the top of the stand. Four bunches of red, white and green bead tassels are attached at regular intervals around the rim.
