Hood. Rectangular piece of natural coloured woollen fabric folded over at the top and sewn together to form a hooded cloak. A central triangular panel at the front of the hood is decorated with an embroidered cross. A loop at each side is used to secure the item to a waistband so that it could hang and form a pocket for the wearer to carry food in fine weather. Towards the unsewn end is a band of black with a black geometric motif above it. This end has been made into a fringe. A band of white woollen material, folded in two and sewn together at one end. A cross, inside a triangle, is worked on the top of the hood, where it is sewn together. The hood is hemmed along a portion of 600mm. It has a loop at each end, above which a double hook has been sewn. A strap made of twisted white and black wool is passed through the loops. The lower part of the hood has a 170mm wide black band. Above this band there is a black design. The lower part has white woollen tassels. (Homespun wool).
