container (containers); kitang

Palm wine vessel, kitang, made of a section of bamboo. The base of the container is black; after it reaches the next nodule in the bamboo it is coloured red, this section forming the major portion of the container. A dark red band band of bamboo reinforces the neck of the container, which has been finished off with a concave inward-facing rim. There is a section of dark string attached to the base section of the bamboo which is then wound six times around the upper part of the red section.
