Brass pen case and inkwell, made from brass and leather in the shape of a Japanese pipe case and tobacco pouch. The two are connected by a piece of yellow leather. The pen case has embossed, irregular textural decoration, and a hinged lid. The inkwell is in the shape of a fukuromo, a kind of pear-shaped pouch, and is decorated with an all-over pattern of embossed tiny sun or flower shapes. There is a simulated diagonal cord on the outside, and a bow below the top, in a grey metal. It opens with a hinge.
