Completed carved wooden elephant toy, painted grey overall with facial features. The trunk is detached and missing. One of 17 specimens illustrating the stages in making wooden cows and elephants. The technique used is one of turning a large block on a lathe to produce in cross-section the shape of the animal desired. Individual animals are then cut radially from the block and finished.
