Tobacco box, pipe & holder. The pipe has a cane stem and a ridged white metal bowl and mouthpiece. The wooden box has a lid attached by cord. The top and bottom of the box sides are raised and carved with circle and line designs matching those on the lid. The top of the lid is carved. The box has a toggle of deer horn, incised with darkened lines, attached to the lid by cord. The wooden pipe holder is from the wood of Euonymus oxyphyllus. It is heavily carved on one side, a strip of carving along the other side. One end has a large central hole for the bowl of the pipe to fit through. The other end has two smaller holes through which cord is threaded to attach the holder to the box lid. The box contains some dried plant material. See neg. no. 5584.
