Amuletic stone, perhaps jasper, mounted in white metal. The metal surround is stamped with the words "MAHOMMEDAN AMULET" and has loops for attachment. The orientation of the lettering on the surround is counter to the Arabic lettering on the stone, suggesting that whoever made the surround had little understanding of the Arabic script. One side of the stone is engraved with letters, sometimes repeated and perhaps also symbols. The other side is engraved with a Quranic verse.
