Church of Sound presents Balimaya Project

Join Church of Sound as they present Balimaya Project for a Sunday gig at the Horniman.

Led by composer/arranger and a leading UK-based Djembe player, Yahael Camara Onono and featuring members of bands including Kokoroko and Seed Ensemble, Balimaya Project intently synthesize and bridge London’s bustling jazz circuit with traditional repertoire and folklore of the Mandé peoples of West Africa, and in turn connect the music’s contemporary and ancestral forbears.

Church of Sound is a regular gig in St James the Great Church, Lower Clapton Rd. A central speaker tower stands tall in the centre of the room, surrounded by musicians, audience and crew. Their team is made up of musicians, music lovers, friends and family – who do our best to share this feeling of companionship with all those who walk through our big blue doors.

Set in our award-winning Sunken Gardens, revel in the nature around you as you enjoy the gig.
