The Horniman Joins Environmental Accelerator Programme

We are delighted to be part of the Julie’s Bicycle Accelerator Programme, funded by Arts Council England. The Horniman is part of the second cohort of ten organisations, learning more about how to advance our sustainable practices.

The Horniman will receive expert mentoring from Julie’s Bicycle – a London based charity that supports the creative community to act on climate change and environmental sustainability.

As part of the programme the Horniman will be matched with an industry expert whose experience and expertise can enable us to achieve our ambitions and projects. We will receive and share insights with our peers in the cohort, and with the wider sector.

The aim of the programme is to fast track progressive changes in how we engage our visitors about environmental issues, as well as communicate more widely the climate emergency, biodiversity, pollution, and migration.

In addition, the Horniman will be working with Canterbury Cathedral Trust, as an Associate to the scheme. Any insights we gain from the programme, the network, and from our experiences, will be shared with them.
