Korantema Anyimadu
Korantema’s background is in community engagement, social justice and youth work. She holds an MA in Cultural Heritage from UCL and her particular areas of interest are hair, dance, oral history and storytelling.
Korantema is a trustee at the East End Women’s Museum and is a 2015 Churchill Fellow, where she travelled to Germany, The Netherlands and the US to research inclusion and diversity in museums and galleries.
Alongside the Horniman, Korantema is an independent curator and zine maker. She runs a creative project exploring Black women, non binary people and hair which won a ‘Making History Award’ from the Mayor of London in 2019. Her work has been featured in publications including VICE Magazine and gal-dem, and museum exhibitions including the Migration Museum.
Before joining the team, Korantema worked as Head of Community at Arts Emergency, a charity that gives young people a fair start in the arts. Many years ago, Korantema started her museum life as a Horniman Nature Base volunteer!
