votive offering; cili

Rice straw 'cili' figure, a symbol of Dewi Sri, the rice goddess, standing with arms straight down at her sides. There is a woven base with a ridge around edge and 'petals' above. The skirt is spiral in shape, with a small trunk. The face has 3 kepeng, or Chinese coins with holes in the middle, with 2 above suggesting eyes and one below suggesting a mouth. The figure has an elaborate headdress with a wide undulating ridge and rows of floral shapes above the ridge. The ears have holes into which earplugs were inserted but one is now missing.
