oinochoe

Large jug, oenochoe, Archaic Cyprus. A large, spherical, wheel-made bichrome ware jug. It is made from white-ish clay, and has a gently moulded trefoil mouth. A single, vertical, two-ribbed handle joins the body to the mouth. The vessel has a ring foot, and exterior decoration of multiple brush and compass-drawn circles in dark brown paint, with a dark red circle on the exterior. There are also compass-drawn circles below the jug handle and spout, and dark brown rings of paint on the neck and lip. There is a triangular striped motif at the base of the handle.
