knife (food processing & storage); knife (food service)

Knife carved from a single piece of dark wood. It has a large curved blade with a blunt end. There is an inscription (possibly Arabic or Persian) on the blade. The handle of the knife is flattened and leaf-shaped at the section where it meets the blade, then tapers slightly and becomes round in cross-section. It continues at this width for most of the length of the handle then flares out at the end. A metal loop or hook is inserted to the bottom of the handle, to which a length of looped string is attached.
