Man’s costume tail or hip basket. Worn behind at waist, behind, ceremonial. Conical basket, open at top, made of vertical thin cane strips, woven with horizontal thinner strips. Reinforced rim plaited on, below which the basketry is overlaid a band of red (dyed cane) and yellow (orchid stem) vertical stripes. One side of basket decorated with long black hair and shorter red hair. A thicker cane loop (as carrying handle) bound to the inside back of the basket, with plaited cross-brace above the rim. The base of the basket (hidden behind the hair) is now open, with thinner canes missing.
Worn by a man at the waist, behind. May have been used for carrying panji, poisoned spikes laid to prevent an enemy from following, or other items.
