sample (textile)

A rectangular piece of cut-pile raffia cloth. This textile has a diamond lattice pattern formed of undyed cut-pile raffia on a tabby woven ground. The embroidery does not go through to the back of the textile. The selvedges have been turned over and hand sewn to the front of the fabric. Both fringes are unfinished and one is incomplete. There is some damage to the rest of the textile.
