The figure is depicted dressed in a checked short sleeved shirt, a black belt constructed using a plastic strip and painted blue trousers. The figure has glasses made from a section of opaque plastic with the frames outlines crated in brown paint.
Across the work bench is scattered a number of tools and materials including a miniature saw, wood file, square of sand paper, rough block of wood. Attached to the work bench is a vice and bench hook.
On the front of the work bench is a printed label “Mr Cole, carving a mode l/ in his workshop / at the bottom of his garden”.
