Circular paper mantra wheel for protection. Printed with a central inscription in Sanskrit. Surrounding this inscription is an illegible mantra, then follow eight Ga symbols, then a Sanskrit mantra ring. The outermost ring displays the eight auspicious symbols for good luck.
In Tibetan Buddhism paper mantras or auspicious symbols like this example could be used to fill sacred objects. Their incorporation into such objects would be accompanied by a blessing from a lama which served to 'activate' the object, transforming it from an everyday object to something with sacred capacity.
