Carved wooden figure of meditator, probably a Buddhist high priest. Robe (kesa) covers both shoulders with a piece of rope and rings to attach it on left shoulder. Right arm raised to chest, and has a hole where there may have been a rosary. Left hand is lifted to the left of and slightly above his lap, open, palm upwards. Robe is covered in lacquer, some chipped off. Head and chest appear to have been gilded. A piece of textile on the base. 180h x 180w x 142d.
