Square, copper alloy amulet case, ga'u. The cover has four small triangular protrusions on each side. The main square has two rows of pieces of turquoise inlaid around the edge leaving a central square that has a turquoise in each corner and a flower shape at the centre. The protrusions have pieces of inlaid turquoise in a semi circular pattern. The back of the case is made of iron.
This style of ga'u was fashionable during the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Lhasa. It was worn by women.
