Chinese ancestral portrait of a seated woman in a red gown with a rank badge on the front, wearing a headdress. Rolled painting on silk with a wooden beam for hanging. Inscription refers to Ming dynasty and gives the woman's name as Mrs. Qiu (邱). Another name in the inscription is "Ning Guo"(甯國), which might be the posthumous name given to her by her family members or one of the Ming emperors, since she seems to be a member of the royal family or another noble figure.
