Model of a palanquin made of wood, with metal fittings, painted green on the exterior. Each side of the palanquin divided into three panels, the centre one being open, those at each end have shuttering indicated by shallow carving in the upper half. There is a floral-patterned textile mattress inside. The walls and ceiling are covered on the inside with decorative floral wallpaper, with different patterns. There are two glass window panels at either end and a carrying pole, painted black and curved upwards towards the end, at front and back. The pole is attached by wire to some of the corners of the palanquin's compartment.
