shield (weapons: accessories)

Shield of elongated oval section with rounded points top and bottom. The section is bi-convex and the grip is formed out of the body of the shield by cutting in and connecting two elongated oval mortices. At present a large iron bar is placed thought the grip to serve as a bracket for its former display. A sticker bearing the number four in gold is also to be found on the front. The remnants of an illegible nineteenth century label are still to be found on the back.
