One only of a pair of Chinese short-swords, the blade is perfectly flat on one side to allow the pair to sit alongside in the same leather scabbard. The blade is heavy, as is the D-shaped guard which is made from brass. The hardwood grip is carved with traditional geometric ornament. Such pairs of swords are reputed to have been favoured by Chinese river pirates.
