Footed, bulbous porcelain jar with bands of foliage and geometric decoration in green and two shades of blue under a semi-matt glaze. Design divided into horizontal bands, a row of dots along the rim, the neck with individual flowers within cuspid arch in sections separated by a chevron design. Shoulder has a row of blue dots. Main body has leaf designs alternately oriented within trinagular cartouches formed by palm leaf motifs in blue.
(Relating to nn1779, 1780, 1781 and 1782) These objects are from the Jeypore School of Art. They share along with the other Jeypore School of art Ceramics, hand written numbers on their bases. These are rather calligraphic, could they have been written by someone who was not used to the Latin script? Could they have been written for Horniman as he made his collections?
