A Victorian birthday card, made from intricate 'laced paper' die cut and embossed paper, which has two flaps which open out. Within this is a poem entitled ' A Birthday Wish' is printed onto a piece of textile, set within an oval paper border with silver decoration. Around this is a colourful die cut flower garland which stands slightly above the poem on paper pleat supports. The reverse of the card has a die cut oval section which could have been removed to insert something within it, but this has been left intact, presumably in the state in which it would have been bought. Within this removable section 'Mansell' the maker, is embossed.
