votive plaque

Votive plaque, rectangular, made of sheet brass with decoration in repousse technique. The plaque depicts a man sitting in padmasana posture on a stool with a long cylindrical pillow behind. Behind and above him is a curved line from which small lines radiate suggestive of a halo, with a floral shape in each corner, left and right. He has a flower garland around his neck and wears a turban. There is an inscription below the stool in Devanagari script which reads: ' Shri sen[?].' In a curve at the centre: 'Shri sathgurugyaneshwara' . Below this another word 'Maharaja'. To the right : 'alandi'. There is an integral frame around the whole, and a metal hoop for suspension on reverse.

would have been brought back from a pilgrimage to Alandi and hung on the wall in the home.
