figure (ritual & belief: representations)

Cast brass figure of Krishna, fluting. The lips, ears and forehead have been painted with gold details and there are remainders of paint on other areas, such as the toes and the base. There are holes in the ears and the remains of thread in the left ear. The lobe of this ear and the shoulder beneath are tarnished white. A blue bead and a short string of yellow seed beads were found in the same box. It seems possible that they could have once been an earring for this object.
