Hexagonal hanging lantern made of two leather sections. The top part has a hinged metal cover in the shape of a six-petalled flower, and two metal loops, one at each side of upper surface, for suspension. There are three hooks to one side and a metal loop, so that the owner could hang it at their waist. The lower part has a pricket into which a candle would be fixed. There is a pouch underneath, which would contain flint or other lighting materials, and is fixed with a metal clasp in the shape of a five-petalled flower. The two parts are connected by a concertina of paper-covered metal hoops, which fold up when it is closed.
