Cast bronze incense burner with lid, in the form of an archaic 'ding' (tripod) supported on three tapering cylindrical legs decorated with stylised 'taotie' masks and 'leiwen' (thunder pattern), the bulging body is divided into three segements by three vertical flanges, each segment is decorated with two confronting 'gui' dragons on a 'leiwen' (thunder pattern) background, along the neck is a band of lozenges enclosed with swatiska motifs, around the rim set with two upright loop handles. The hemspherical lid with perforated floral decoration is mounted on top with a lion knob. A recessed seal mark cast on base reads: 'Qianlong wan shou nian zhi' (made on the birthday of the Qianlong emperor).
