lid (containers)

The lid of a round, flat snuff box made from carved wood. The top has been carved with a scene of a man and a woman outdoors. The woman is slitting on a small pot and is holding a long handled umbrella or parasol. The man is standing to her left, wearing a hat and has his left arm outstretched, also supporting the parasol. To his left is a fountain. The inside is shiny and it looks like a thin layer of turtle shell may have been applied. On the inside, a Purnell collection label is stuck, which has the number 9 written on in pen.
