A round, flat snuff box made from carved wood. The lid slots onto the base and its top is carved with a scene of a man and a woman outdoors. The woman is sitting on a small pot and is holding a long handled umbrella or parasol. The man is standing to her left, wearing a hat and has his left arm outstretched, also supporting the parasol. To his left is a fountain. The inside of the base and lid are shiny and it looks like a thin layer of turtle shell may have been applied. On the inside of the lid, a Purnell collection label is stuck, which has the number 9 written on in pen. The bottom of the base is carved with a diamond pattern, within each diamond are lines, which alternate in rows between straight and vertical and rippled and horizontal. There is a small white blank label stuck to the base.
