pipe (narcotics & intoxicants: smoking)

Pipe with a dark, stoneware bowl which is mottled red and black. The bowl has eight flat sides with the stem connection, which is at a 45 degree angle, has six sides. There are 3 stamps or maker's marks on the bowl. The end of the stem connection and the rim of the bowl are covered in brass and the conical lid, with decorative piercing, is also made of brass. The stem is made from a straight piece of wood and it still has the dark bark on the outside. The mouthpiece is formed from a dark piece of shaped horn. At the tip of the stem is some cork and just above this is some red thread wrapped around the stem and attached to the bowl and ends in two tassels.
