Tobacco box made from brass with engraved battle scenes on the base and the hinged lid. Inscription on the front reads: 'Victori den Frieden/Focxiani Den 10 Aug 1774.' The inscription on the reverse reads: 'Siege der Russen ober die Torcken 1774/ Choczim_ Chesme _ Kugel_Griim.' It thus refers to events in the Russo-Turkish war of 1768-1774, which ended in defeat for the Ottoman army. The inscription is in German.
