A highly decorated box with an inner tray and a small key, possibly with a second one missing. The box is made of wood, which is dark in colour, with a hinged lid and small, hinged compartment at the top. The box is decorated with gilded metal work in the form of leaves and vines, and is decorated with semi-precious gemstones in red, orange and white tones. There is more gilded metal on the corners of the body, each depicting a human face. The box stands on four gold-coloured feet. The two compartments are lined with magenta velvet. On the underside of the lid to the main compartment, is a mirror in a dark, wooden frame. The wooden tray fits inside the main compartment of the box and is lined inside and on the sides in magenta velvet, with a textile lining on the underside, which is pink, and there are two pink, ridged, ribbon handles on either side of the tray. The key is for the top compartment, and is made of gilded metal. The shaft is long and thin, with no bit on the tip. The handle has a loop on the end and curls of decoration.
