lid (containers)

A circular domed lid for a box. The lid is lacquered in red, black, blue and yellow. The domed surface of the object has six circular sections. The middle section is the largest, and is lacquered in red. There is a hole in the centre of this section, presumably for some kind of strut. The other circular sections are lacquered in black and red, and have metal thread embedded into the surface on the outside, presumably for decoration. One of the circular sections has a disk of ivory with a decorative pin through the middle of it. The ivory has been carved and elaborated. The rim of the lid has smaller disks of ivory. The underside of the lid has bands of lacquered decoration, metal thread and an ivory disk in the centre.
