Carved ivory basket of ovoid shape in section, with curved sides taper towards the bottom with six feet. The frame of the basket is constructed of six segments from strips of ivory decorated with openwork diamond pattern, the spaces in between filled by thin sheets of ivory. Each sheet has a finely pierced background of interlocking swastika design, against which an ovoid medallion is carved with either flowers or landscape with pagoda in relief. An overhead loop handle is attached to the mouth of the basket, carved with ribbed pattern resembling bamboo. The legs are incised with simple linear details, and running along between the feet is carved foliate scroll.
