Three-tiered circular food box made of bamboo and wood, stands on a high foot, with lid and overhead handle. The interior, base and handle are covered in red lacquer, while the exterior is covered in orange lacquer, probably a mixture of red lacquer with gold powder. The exterior is also painted with dense decoration in black paint. The lid is decorated with four butterflies amidst floral motifs, encircled by a band of curl-works on top surface, followed by another band of curl-works on sloping-shoulder, and a band of floral motifs on side of the lid. The exterior of 3-tiered boxes are decorated with butterflies, bird and some auspicious objects from the Eight Treasures or the Eight Daoist emblems of fan, coin, rhinoceros horn, flute amidst dense floral motifs. The foot is decorated with a band of curl-works.
Carrying food or used in traditional Chinese wedding custom by the groom's family to bring food and other auspicious items to the bride's family few days before the wedding.
