club (weapons: bludgeon)

Medium sized example of curved club of so called beaked battle hammer form with expanded head comprising multiple small studs that fringe a concave conical striking point. This lower section of the handle is covered in tavatava zig zag decoration and a running zig zag covers much of the shaft. The form of the head is believed to represent the fruit head of the pandanus. The pommel is pierced to permit the addition of a wrist loop and broken on one side.
