Hand held bronze mirror made of one piece of metal, circular with a rectangular pojection forming the handle, which is wrapped with bamboo strips. One side is plain, the other with a raised pattern deopicting a family crest or mon, depicting an ivy leaf (kage-tsuta), perhaps the crest of the Fujiwara family.This crest is surrounded by the 'saia-gata' design, a variation of the swastika. A raised inscription to the left of the leaf reads: 'tenka (=world) Fujiwara-Kiyohisa (a man's name). 297 h (inc handle) x 202 dia.
