A lidded basket of cylindrical form, made of single-rod coiled rattan with cane stitches. The lid has a brass ring mounted in the centre which is flanked by two brass arched handles, attached to the lid with two brass ring handles. A brass plate with a ruyi-shaped tip is attached to the front of the lid, with two perforated rectangular holes, one large and one small. There is a jointed flexible hook for securing to the metal loop which comes out from a large brass plate riveted onto the front of the body. Inside the lidded basket is lined with cushions covered with pink damask. A maker's mark impressed on the underside of the ruyi-shaped brass plate reads: 'lian an'.
