According to Edward Hart, writing on 6 May 1927, 'Middle Left (no 1): adult female, summer plumage, September 1863; (no 2): adult male, summer plumage, October 1875; (no 3): adult male, summer plumage, June 1866; (no 4): adult female, summer plumage, July 1886; (no 5): adult male, summer plumage, October 1886; (no 6): adult female, summer plumage, September 1894; three young, 7th July 1882. Taken from a brood of six or more. Obtained by me in Ogber and Burton Meadows, Christchurch. Sexes differ; summer and winter plumage differ. Mounted by me'.
