Laidlawe, Gunter Meadows, Christchurch; bottom left (no 2): adult male, September 16th 1878, Autumn plumage, shot by me at Gunter Meadows, Christchurch; bottom middle (no 3): adult female, September 14th 1880, Autumn plumage, shot by R. Keynes at Chipmead, Christchurch; bottom right (no 4): adult female, August 27th 1883, Autumn plumage, shot by me at Gunter Meadows, Christchurch; top right (no 5): adult male, October 1849, Autumn plumage, shot by E. Budden at Cross Meadows, Christchurch. Sexes alike; summer and winter plumage differ. Mounted by me, excepting no 5'.
