Harmonium by William Wheatstone, 1856. Serial number 1278. An applied card label, 5.25" x 2.25", on the dust cover panel reads: 'Wheatstone & Co, 20 Conduit St, Regent St, London.' Beneath in black copperplate, directly onto the oak panel is written: 'This Harmonium is the property of Sarah Caudwell of Drayton Manor, Abingdon, Berks, NovR 1856.' The serial number 1278 is stamped into the body beneath the lid. The case and body are of well grained oak. Ivory-faced piano style keys. No straps. The internal bellows and wind chest have been re-covered. Simply single-tongued brass reeds.
