Dholak, barrel drum.

This barrel drum was played in an ensemble with a sahnai (shahnai) oboe, and large kettledrum, accompanying a Purulia Chhau Ramayana dance ensemble.The drummer playing the dhol kept up the pace of the dance with his shouts, while beating the drum with the right hand and a stick held in his left hand. The dhol was tuned to the sahnai.
