Ghayta, shawm, with felt bag. Conical wooden body, which flares at the end from beneath the bottom fingerhole. Seven fingerholes and one thumbhole positioned between the first and second fingerholes. Seven vent holes in the bell, three in a row along the front and two at each side. Lathed groove decorations in the bell beneath the vent holes and in line with the thumbhole. A reed reciever made from a lighter wood is attached to the top. A separate piece of wood is placed inside the bore towards the top, this is attached to the reed reciever plate at the top. Metal staple wound with white thread. Reed is a single piece folded flat. Pirouette is flat and of a translucent material. A metal chain is attached to the top face. A thread attached to the reed staple below the pirouette has a coin and a wooden reed guard. The guard is maded from two wooden piece tied together at both ends to form a slit between them. The coin is a soveriegn dated 1911, but may not be real as the loop to which the thread is attached is on a lug on the edge which appears to be part of the same casting. Felt bag is made from 5 v shaped cloth strips and a round felt disc at the top. There is a draw string around the bottom.
