Single membrane pot drum in the form of a water pot of red earthenware, with a chalky white coating. Made in Lacandon. The side spout has a decorative face sculpted, with the spout itself forming the mouth. A wooden bark covered branch, approx 15 mm diameter, has been been bent at tied in two places with cord to form a hoop, which acts as both a base and a fixture for the membrane tensioners. These three tensioners are made from vegetable fibre, and each has a securing stick to retain the twist. The hide membrane is secured with a narrow reed-like stick, bent round three times to form a hoop, to which it is stitched with a narrow white thread. Diameter of membrane: approx: 80 mm.
